??? ??? Another top honor, the Charles Moore Excellence in Photography Award, was bestowed on Matthew Gass, whose winning entry also earned a first place ribbon in the color category.
??? Fairfield?s winning photo was entered in the alternative process category.
??? The third competition category was monochrome, or black and white.
??? Judging took place earlier this week by Mark Citret, who teaches photography at the UC Santa Cruz and Berkeley Extensions; Kim Komenich, a former San Francisco Chronicle photographer and professor at San Jose State University; and Janet Delaney, a photography educator and three-time NEA award winner.?
??? The show opens Saturday and continues through February at 193 S. Washington St. in downtown Sonora.
??? An awards ceremony and reception will be held Saturday, Feb. 11.
??? InFocus is one of the arts council?s most successful shows and draws entries from across the state, said organizer Don Hukari.
??? A total of 215 photos were submitted for the 25th annual contest, with 114 accepted into the show.

??? Alternative process (including monochrome and color manipulations) ?? 1. Mark Wilburn, 2. Lorraine Nilson, 3., Laura Faye Mah. Honorable mention, Anna Barber.
??? Cash prizes included $100 for first place, $75 for second place and $50 for third place in each of the three competition categories, plus $100 for Best of Show.
??? Three Judge?s Choice ribbons also were awarded.
??? Komenich chose Thalisha Kamine, Citret favored David Lindquist and Delaney singled out Rechelle Villanueva.
??? The Charles Moore Award honors nationally renown photographer Charles Moore, who lived in Tuolumne County in the 1980s and ?90s and helped make InFocus a stronger exhibition and competition, Hukari said. Moore won international awards for his photojournalism during the Civil Rights protests of the 1960s, many of them immortalized in the book ?Powerful Days.? He also published a pictorial book, ?The Mother Lode,? in 1983 which has gone through several editions.
